Me in the corner.
Saturday, June 22, 2002
To expect me to sleep tonight would be almost completely unrealistic. I just got home from Katie's house, and will not see her again until sometime in August. Six weeks without Katie, wherein I will hope that absence really does make the heart grow fonder...at least in this case. In case you haven't figured it out (but I'm sure most of you have), I like Katie Pearson. That doesn't come as a shocker to anybody, although I can tell you that the timeframe in which it happened might be off for some of you. The thing is, I didn't like her when most people thought I did. It was really just a friendship, initially. Plus, I was sort of unofficially dating somebody else for a while. (That has since ended quite amicably, for any who are wondering).

At any rate, one late night with Katie at Denny's in Monrovia, while eating a Grand Slam Breakfast (eggs over easy), I suddenly realized that I completely adored this woman. Well...maybe admitted it to myself is more of an accurate statement. It's one of those things where you have to look back in retrospect and admit to yourself that, perhaps, you had had some level of interest in the person before. Suffice it to say, I have not stopped thinking about her since. However, rather than burden her with such information before she heads off to Tibet, I decided (mostly on the advice of others) that it would be a good thing to wait until she got back before mentioning anything to her.

I have no idea where she stands on this issue. And, while it has been driving me insane for the last few weeks, at this point I am surprisingly ok with that lack of knowledge. Or at least I should say I am content with it.

I guess six weeks isn't really all that long in the grand scheme of things.
