I have been unable to access the internet from home for most of the week as my roommate has been doing upgrades to his computer that have rendered it temporarily unusable. As a result, I walked down the street to the Montrose branch of the
Glendale Public Library and have accessed the internet from here. I am in the midst of several high school students currently studying for their
SATs. I would say it reminds me of my high school days but I never studied for the SAT. I didn't see much point, really. No amount of studying would have helped me better understand how superfluous is to lackadaisical as perfunctory is to egregious. I mean, the fact is there was no way to predict what strange analogies they would throw at you, so it seemed futile to prepare. So, I just marched in there and took the test with little preparation and walked away with a decent enough score.
I got my pictures developed from Germany. I only took two rolls of pictures- one of them was an experiment in black and white. In the past, I haven't had much success with black and white, but I am somewhat impressed with how these turned out.
On the job search front, it might sound like a lame excuse, but having little or no internet access this week has crippled my ability to search on-line job listings. It makes one wonder how did people find jobs before the internet. I don't know.
Last night I had to go to a group interview over at
Cal State Northridge for admission to the teaching credential program. It seemed to be more of a formality than anything else. They said we will receive acceptance or rejection letters in about two weeks. I'm not too worried about being rejected but stranger things have happened to me. Given the fact that there are cosmic forces conspiring against me (as they have been doing for years) it would not surprise me.
I haven't had much contact with people this week. I've talked to a few people on the phone, but I haven't actually gotten together with anybody. I think I'll need to change that soon.
I've been quite sick, too. I'm not sure if it was a continuation of the illness I contracted in Germany or if it was something all new. I've got this irritating cough at the moment, but all the other symptoms seems to have faded. Historically speaking, though, my coughs tend to hang around for quite some time...largely related to my mild asthma.
Ok...I'm almost out of time here, and should probably start walking home since it's getting dark. If anybody knows any place I can get a job that will be largely flexible with a school schedule, let me know.
